Nigerian Primary School Children in Dilapidated School Buildings, Soaked Under Rain

While the Nigerian government tells the world that it is committed to improving education, here’s the dilapidated state of Holy Arusoa Primary School in Benin City, a primary school in Edo State, Nigeria, where children are expected to learn, compete with the rest of the world and excel, in flooded buildings with leaking roofs, broken windows and walls.
This is only one out of many such schools in Nigeria. The Edo State primary school looks more like a collection of war-torn buildings; unfortunately, many schools in today’s Nigeria are in deplorable states, while the politicians in power are paying themselves in millions for not actually doing the jobs they were elected/nominated to do.
Are they aware that the children are the future of the country or perhaps, they simply don’t care?

When the video recorded by a concerned citizen was made public, the current governor of Edo State (member of the ruling APC Political Party), responded with a public statement claiming that he had previously “ordered” the school closed and the students moved to another/other school(s), not surprisingly, more than a few received the news statement with some level of scepticism. The current governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki (member of the ruling APC Political Party), of Edo State, where the showcased dilapidated school is located, assumed the governorship role in November 2016.
The former governor of the State, Adam Oshimole, was in power for 8 years from November 2008 to November 2016 and is also currently a member of the ruling APC Political Party.
