Daily Post Nigeria reports that: "Officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Abia State Command, on Tuesday rescued an abandoned baby girl.The state commandant of the NSCDC, Walter Chika, said the baby was abandoned by the mother with a letter.Chika told Channels Television: “The abandoned child was rescued by the Anti-Traffic Unit of the agency near a health centre in Avodim village in Umuahia South LGA.“The mother, in a letter said she should not be sold but handed over to motherless babies’ home or any well-meaning Nigerian who can cater for her welfare,” Chika added."
