On April 25, 2016, the village of Nimbo, Enugu State, South East Nigeria was attacked by over 500 Fulani herdsmen vandals who massacred scores of villagers. Fulani herdsmen are a violent group of herdsmen known for savage killings in Nigeria. The Terrorism Research and Analysis Consortium describe Nigeria's herdsmen as an active terrorist group in Nigeria.
SitiTalkTV recently interviewed an eye witness of the brutal massacre of scores of Nimbo residents. While the so-called security forces including the Nigerian Police claim that some arrests have been made, it is unclear if the alleged Fulani Herdsmen arrested have been charged to a bona fide court of law. In addition, the status of the investigations claimed by the Nigerian Police to be ongoing remains unclear. Likewise, it is unclear if the supposed investigations to identify more of the hundreds Fulani Herdsmen who were alleged to have participated in the savage killing of the residents of Nimbo are still ongoing in earnest.
To emphasize the extent of savagery exhibited by the Fulani Herdsmen, the eye witness of the brutal massacre stated that the herdsmen cut through the backs of some of the victims with large knives and using their bare hands gorged out their hearts. According to the eye witness account, so many lives and families have been devastated and their lives will never be the same again. Nimbo community as a whole will never be the same again she emphasized.
